Narrow Your Goals Down to a Couple Areas You Actually Care About

This is a great time to set new goals. If you’re hoping to be successful, lose weight, workout, learn more, get a promotion, be more confident, and finally organize your self, maybe you should just pick one or two at first.

we often fail our goals when we don’t have enough investment in achieving them. It’s not that we don’t want to learn something new or take that bold step. It’s just that we have other things we care about more. things that are actually pulling us down. When you divide your focus over a large number of goals, you can’t devote your focus or attention to any of them. Instead, focus on the goals that you’re most passionate about and worry about the rest later:If you want to succeed with your professional growth goals, choose one or two key areas of focus that align with what really matters to you. Capitalizing on the enthusiasm and energy you have for a goal will give you the drive to accomplish that goal. It’s okay to leave some other ambitions on the table and come back to them later when you have more space in your life to pursue it.

Abraham Lincoln's letter to his son's teacher

My son starts school today. It is all going to be strange and new to him for a while and I wish you would treat him gently. It is an adventure that might take him across continents. All adventures that probably include wars, tragedy and sorrow. To live this life will require faith, love and courage.
So dear Teacher, will you please take him by his hand and teach him things he will have to know, teaching him – but gently, if you can, Teach him that for every enemy, there is a friend. He will have to know that all men are not just, that all men are not true. But teach him also that for every scoundrel there is a hero, that for every crooked politician, there is a dedicated leader.
Teach him if you can that 10 cents earned is of far more value than a dollar found. In school, teacher, it is far more honorable to fail than to cheat. Teach him to learn how to gracefully lose, and enjoy winning when he does win.
Teach him to be gentle with people, tough with tough people. Steer him away from envy if you can and teach him the secret of quiet laughter. Teach him if you can – how to laugh when he is sad, teach him there is no shame in tears. Teach him there can be glory in failure and despair in success. Teach him to scoff at cynics.
Teach him if you can the wonders of books, but also give time to ponder the extreme mystery of birds in the sky, bees in the sun and flowers on a green hill. Teach him to have faith in his own ideas, even if every one tell him they are wrong.
Try to give my son the strength not to follow the crowd when everyone else is doing it. Teach him to listen to every one, but teach him also to filter all that he hears on a screen of truth and take only the good that comes through.
Teach him to sell his talents and brains to the highest bidder but never to put a price tag on his heart and soul. Let him have the courage to be impatient, let him have the patient to be brave. Teach him to have sublime faith in himself, because then he will always have sublime faith in mankind, in God.
This is the order, teacher but see what best you can do. He is such a nice little boy and he is my son

See yourself for what you can become, not who you currently are

“When you begin a new road towards success, you have to think of yourself differently. You absolutely must see yourself as who you can become and not who you currently are”
During my transformation, I focused on all the potential that I had and what I would look like in the future. I thought about standing on stages in front of thousands of people and doing something that filled me with joy and passion. I saw videos of thought leaders like Eric Thomas and told myself that I could live my life at the same level.
To this day, those thoughts have never left me and I never will let them go. Until you’ve been all the way to the lowest of lows, you’ll never know what it’s like to dream big.
You have so much more within you. Yes, people will laugh at you and think you’re dumb. The only reason they think like that is because they are pissed off at their own failures and misfortunes.

Don’t Hurt Your Future Self By Quitting

“Every decision you make affects someone very special: your future self” You’ve never met this person, but they are carrying the torch of your dreams.
Life is hard for them too except their further along the timeline of life than you. Have you ever wondered what the future you will be like? It’s something worth contemplating through deep and inward thinking. When you give up on your dreams and quit, you’re not just hurting you right now, you’re killing the future you as well. That future you is bound by the decisions that you make today. One day you will become that future you and wish you could change that decision to quit. By then, it’s too late to change the past. There ain’t no rewind button on life. I know you think it’s impossible and your only option is to quit, but that’s because you’ve reached your breaking point. I’ve been there too. I’ve reached a level of failure that has become insurmountable. I too have felt like I couldn’t go on and life had no meaning. All of your emotional states, at times, can get like this. We’re human after all and don’t you forget that. We live in a flawed body, but that’s why humans are so beautiful in the first place. You don’t need to quit right now; there’s always another way.

Think of failure as one part of the pendulum

In order to succeed, you usually have to fail at some point. We know this, but failing on purpose can be a tough thing to do. It helps to understand that embracing failure means you have control over it. Try thinking of failure as one side of a pendulum. “Life, growth, and achievement work like a pendulum. On one side you have failure, rejection, pain and sadness. But on the other side, you have success, victory, joy and happiness.” Guess which side we have control over? Right: the side that comes with pain and failure and rejection. In that area, we control our own destiny. How you choose to react to rejection and failure can make a big difference in how far that pendulum swings. This means that : if success is important to you, you don’t want to be so scared of rejection that you’d rather not swing the pendulum at all. Embracing failure is a concept we’ve discussed before. But it’s inspiring to realize that embracing it is one variable you do have control.
